Sunscreens

Hey love, can you tell me what sunscreen you use or reccommend??there are so many! Thought you may have a good one in mind...

Well, the best is to get a MINERAL sunscreen, better for your skin, not so many chemicals. They are expensive though.
I actually use one from the Cancer Council which is for toddlers (i know i am such a little delicate thing) much gentler on the skin. But remember it is important to expose your skin to the sun a little every day or you become vitamin D deficient. Morning light is best, always before 11AM. After that: hats, grease and shirt. Or stay inside!

When do i eat fruit?

One of these days I will ask you if you need to eat fruits away from other foods- you know what I mean- the food combining thing?
Why wait? here is the answer. That's right: fruit contain sugar which stops protein digestion, so you have to wait at least one hour after a meal before having fruit.
Are they exceptions? of course, otherwise life would be too simple!
Pawpaw, pineapple, and berries being high in both acids and enzymes actually help digest protein. That is why you find pawpaw and pineapple in lots of Asian recipes containing pork. Really helps break it down.

How Much Water Should We Drink?

People often ask: "how much water should I drink" and to this i answer: "How long is a piece of string?"
OK, so you lose at least one litre of water per day: you lose moisture when you breathe out, when you sweat and when you pee and poo. Hence the myth of you have to drink 8 glasses of water per day. This means nothing. Let me say that again: NOTHING!
If you are out in the heat working in the garden, or running (if you are running in the heat you deserve a spanking, but that is another blog) or doing anything that demands a lot of physical activity: you are going to need to drink more.
If your derriere is parked behind a computer most of the day in climatic control environment you are going to need to drink less.
Too much guzzling of water dilutes your stomach acids and enzymes and causes poor food absorption, gas and flatulence. It also washes out your water soluble nutrients and causes water retention.
Also you absorb a lot of fluids if you eat vegetables, fruit, eat soup and drink herbal teas.
So make your water drinking intelligent and conscious and stop sucking on that bottle of water!

When do i take probiotics?

Some people come to me and i tell them to take probiotics, they exclaim: "I've been taking them for weeks!" Inquiring as to when they are taken, it is usually at the wrong time which means their effect is lessened or negated all together.
The best time to take probiotics is first thing in the morning. This will be your most powerful dose. If you need to take them more often, always take them before food.
You need an empty stomach for best absorption.
Then you only need to wait 5 to 10 mins before eating
